Ideas for our Trailer: the Feeling
1. What elements of the campaign should your group usefully consider including in your own? What ideas does it give you?
The viral marketing campaign for our trailer, the Feeling, is inspired by the District 9 campaign. We are going to use the same sort of idea, which is printing our film poster in public places, such as on billboards and near shopping centres. The ideas from District 9 really have given me ideas to make our viral marketing campaign unique and extensive, and not just hope that the word spreads on Facebook and Twitter, as not everyone has these sites. Although, we will distribute our trailer via social networking sites, we also want to take a broader view, so we can reach as many audience demographics as possible.
Also, for our teaser trailer, we have already created a Facebook, Twitter and YouTube account, so we are able to share it conveniently and place the domain on the poster/advertisements, so that people can find us. We are also considering creating stickers for the campaign, which we will distribute to various people around our local area, which will successfully market our trailer in our surroundings.

2. What elements of the campaign do you recognise as strengths but not suitable for your own project?
I think that the various websites, that the designers of the campaign created, such as the D-9.com one, which was distributed on the posters, that where scattered around public places, were a strength of the campaign because many people were intrigued by what it was all about and it was reported that it got a lot of visitors and it reached a wider audience. However, I don't think that it will be suitable to create a whole website on our trailer because we are not keeping the movie a secret, like District 9 did. Also, talking about District 9 keeping it a secret that the advertisements were about an upcoming movie, this turned out to be a huge strength in the success of the campaign overall because it left people talking, but I don't think that this approach would be suitable for our marketing campaign because we want our audience to know what the advertisements are about.
